RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Rheumatoid arthritis is autoimmune disease which affects the joints of the body; it results in swollen, warm, and painful joints. Pain and stiffness often worsen the rest other. The wrist and hands will also get affected. This disease will also affect other parts of the body. This will result in low red blood cell count, inflammation around the heart and inflammation around the lungs. Fever and low energy may also happen but symptoms come on gradually over weeks to months.

The cause of rheumatoid arthritis is not identifiable, it is said to involve a combination of environmental and genetic factors. The mechanism involves the body’s immune system attacking the joints and these results in inflammation and thickening of the joint capsule and it affects the bone and cartilage. The diagnosis is made on the basis of a person’s symptoms. X-rays and laboratory testing are used for diagnosis or it excludes other diseases with similar symptoms. Other diseases that may be present are fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and many more.
